Deciding on a breeder of Rottweilers is just as important as deciding what kind of dog you want. Be prepared to visit several breeders and to meet (and compare) as many of their dogs as possible.
Do not be afraid to ask lots of questions. Your Rottweiler's health and temperament will depend on choices the breeder makes in deciding which animals to breed. They will also be affected by its care and experiences in its first weeks of life. If the Rottweiler is expensive, this is partly because their breeders have a reputation for producing healthy, good-natured dogs. You have the right to satisfy yourself that this reputation is deserved and to enjoy owning Rottweilers.
You should ask your breeder many questions before you make a decision to buy this or that puppy. Find out about his experience with Rottweilers. Breeders who are dealing with several dog breeds are not very trustworthy, as they tend to switch from one breed to another depending on their popularity. Pedigree and medical certificates are essential documents to see. You cannot buy a high quality puppy without them.
However, be prepared that a responsible breeder will question you on your experience of dog ownership and would like to see the conditions you can provide for the Rottweiler with his own eyes. The pup you are about to buy may be a part of the future breeding program and a reputable breeder will be willing to keep in touch with you after the purchase. All your questions and problems with Rottweilers will be clarified on the eve of the purchase. Help and advice from the breeder will be offered afterwards as well to ensure the best home for their Rottweilers.
